Technology provider recognized by AFTA at NTIA 2019 for NDC capabilities supporting end-to-end booking processing at scale
DALLAS – July 23, 2019 – Tramada Systems’ New Distribution Capability (NDC) Solution won first place at the Australian Federation of Travel Agents’ annual National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) held in Sydney, Australia on July 20, 2019.
The International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) NDC – a revolutionary XML-based transmission standard – is designed to deliver dynamic pricing and customized airline content to travel agents and aggregators and is defining the direction of technology platforms in the travel industry globally.
Pre-NDC, airline content such as unbundled tickets and ancillaries like checked bags, lounge access, airport parking/hotels, car hire, transfers, currency exchange and Wi-Fi have been traditionally sold on the airlines’ websites and were not available to agents via traditional booking processes. The advent of IATA’s NDC enables agents to better search for and personalize air fares, sell ancillaries, customize bundled offers and book flights.
Tramada’s NDC Solution provides a much-needed bridge between airlines and travel agencies by providing essential post-booking processes such as payments, invoices, itineraries and reporting required in the NDC environment.
“By building NDC-equivalency into the core of our tramada® post-booking platform, Tramada Systems provides our clients with the same robust, scalable, secure, and automated post-booking processes of NDC content that they presently enjoy with GDS and direct booking content at no extra cost,” said Mary Ellen George, Head of North America at Tramada Systems. “Importantly, they can also combine sources such as NDC and GDS bookings within a single hybrid booking – effortlessly and at scale.”
Jo O’Brien, CEO of Tramada Systems said, “We are so pleased to be recognized by the peak industry body in Australasia, AFTA, for our contribution to the progression of the NDC. While the benefits of the NDC are still being discovered, we are already driving industry adoption and transition to this new frontier for forward-thinking agencies.”
The AFTA National Travel Industry Award ceremony is the region’s premier industry event of the year, attracting 1,300 attendees from across the travel industry – airlines, hotels, car hire providers, tour operators, wholesalers, river and cruise operators, as well as leisure, corporate and online travel agencies. Tramada Systems’ NDC Solution won the sole award related to technology: Best Travel Agent Technology Innovation.
“Helping agents stay at the forefront of industry change is a Tramada trademark and empowering them to embrace the NDC and ease the post-booking management of this new, dynamic marketplace is yet another shining example of this,” said Mary Ellen George, Head of North America at Tramada Systems.
